Hello

My name is Julianna. I illustrate children’s books for a living and I couldn’t feel luckier to have such an amazing job. When I was little I was home schooled and I was constantly drawing and making things. I think that experience taught me two valuable things for my work now: to be very self motivated and to love being alone!

I’ve been an illustrator full time since I graduated college, though my career has gone though many changes and looked pretty different at different times. I only started focusing on illustrating children’s books in my 30s and I’m I’m still learning and evolving.

I’m originally from Michigan, I went to college in Maine, and now I live with my partner in a 1911 craftsman bungalow in Portland OR. I have a lot of interests and I wish there were more hours in the day for all of them! I love reading (I especially enjoy reading 19th century literature written by women), I’m perfecting my sourdough bread making, I’ve started carving the occasional wooden spoon. Running and working in the garden keep me grounded.
